I haven’t been active on this board for a while, but I wanted to share a happy thing: I have just been set apart as the chorister for Sacrament Meeting in my ward! Oh, am I ever excited. Yesterday I felt great joy as I vigorously led the congregation through “Guide Us, O Thou Great Jehovah” and am planning various selections now, oh yes oh yes, including some more obscure ones. We’re gonna sing “Adam-Ondi-Ahman.” We’re gonna sing “A Mighty Fortress,” “Now Thank We All Our God,” and every other 16th-century tune I can find in the book.

And we’re going to sing them to tempo!

So anyway, I’m excited, and I thought I’d share that. Love to all.

Congratulations. It’s great to have a calling you enjoy & feel inspired with.

(It can be agony when you don’t enjoy it or feel uninspired.)

Also, tempo is very important. I hate it when the music drags.

Please include All Creatures of our God and King. Us pagans and pantheists would appreciate it.

Excellent. It really is wonderful to have a calling you love.

Congrats! I would really be up for weekly/occasional updates, kind of like Ray does with the “My New Calling” thread. I would love to know what you’re singing, what issues come up, how you deal with them, etc.

I’ll be glad to give updates. This really came at a good time, since I have been feeling like the meetings I attend are pointless and there’s not much for me to offer this ward. Now I have a way to share one of my gifts in a way that I won’t need to self-censor, at least not very much!

And I definitely plan on putting “All Creatures” in. That’s a regular bedtime selection in our house.

    Thanks all, and good night!

This is a good story…and why staylds website has a place in the bloggernacle.

Please let us know how it goes. And I’m really glad that you can find meaning within the lds paradigm.

My wife just got the same calling and she is very excited but I miss setting by her when she leads the music. Enjoy!!
