I have no problem with the watchman analogy, but I hope this doesn’t move to battle language or fear-based framing. It could go either way. I was concerned at first, but it is moving away from the undesirable one.

Yes. I believe it was this session (they all start to run together) that started off with a woman giving the prayer.
This is too close to rhetoric that’s been used to attack me. I think I’ll give the rest of the talk a pass. Christofferson and I have a tug of war relationship. Oh sounds by Brene Brown quote on shaming. He isn’t a fan.

I always wonder how his brother and mother take his talks.
Warning about sin is a two-edged sword, since sin is so subjective. It can lead to the opposite of true love, and it can lead easily to judgmentalism. I wonder if he realizes the elements of shame culture in our church; I wish he would make it clear. I agree with the distinction between guilt and shame, but I’m not sure he can see it clearly among us.
This is one for most people here to skip. Seriously. Void of cultural context, it actually isn’t that bad, in theory – but it can’t be divorced from cultural context.
