KeymasterWelcome to LDS Faith Journeys! Here is a link to our lauch episode: https://youtu.be/5PayNjM0y1s
In my first interview with Kurt Francom of the Leading Saints podcast, we discussed:
1. The purpose: The site is designed as a forum for members to discuss history, doctrine, and social issues in the “most honest way” possible.
2. Reframing “Faith Crisis” to “Faith Journey”
3. The “Scuba Gear on a Bicycle” Analogy
4. Leadership and Empathy
5. Current Controversies and Boundaries: Rick and Kurt address specific contentious topics currently affecting the Church membership.
6. Tribute to Troy Ables an LDS podcaster who passed away last Thursday.• Future Content: Rick plans to host live Q&A sessions and feature guests like Patrick Mason, Jim Bennett, and Janice Allred.
Comments? What are you looking forward to? Is there anything you disagree with?

ParticipantOthers that I have thought of:
Taylor Smith. I thought he had a book, but I can’t find it. He’s an oncologist from California who I’ve heard on a couple of podcasts speaking into this space.
Dan Wotherspoon — Latter-day Faith podcast, and/or others on his team
Jana Johnson Spangler — a therapist in SLC who specializes in working with faith crisis/faith journeys. I’m sure there are other therapists in Utah who might also be good choices.
If you are willing to consider someone who has disaffiliated, Valerie and Nathan Hamaker of the Latter-day Struggles podcast.
Richard Ostler, if you want to have an LGBTQ specific episode.
I don’t know if Elder and Sister Hafen are still available for public appearances, but they had a book with their own “stages of faith” model. Even if they aren’t available, perhaps a “bookclub” type of episode with a panel of people to discuss the Hafen’s bookJanuary 23, 2026 at 11:57 am #247469gospeltangents2
KeymasterThese are awesome suggestions. Thank you! Other suggestions are also welcome.
