    Just for review, this paragraph contains the statement’s only use of the words “disavow” and “condemn”:

    Quote:

    Today, the Church disavows the theories advanced in the past that black skin is a sign of divine disfavor or curse, or that it reflects actions in a premortal life; that mixed-race marriages are a sin; or that blacks or people of any other race or ethnicity are inferior in any way to anyone else. Church leaders today unequivocally condemn all racism, past and present, in any form.


    I think it’s worded well.

    I think this is about semantics really. I don’t have much more to say…for me, if you replace the word disavow with repudiate, you get a reasonable meaning. I just wish they had’ve been more direct so the people trying to avoid cognitive dissonance wouldn’t come out with all kinds of new excuses for the practice.
