Wide open eyes are a good thing for some people and not for others. I’m gald (really happy) that they are right for you. May you find joy in your journey, and may it continue to allow you to interact with the Church and everyone else productively and peacefully.

I think that is what church can provide…an arena to practice such qualities while others are practicing on you as well.

Important points to remember.
If God is love (& I believe so)…
Then God doesn’t care so much which church we go to.
God cares most about how we LOVE.

I needed to read that tonight. I have children experiencing some difficult things. It is hard to be involved in the situations and not be critical. Sometimes I do a good job, sometimes not so good. In trying to stay focused on the fact that “we are who we are” it will be helpful to remember that being able to give and accept love freely – no strings – is of prime importance.

I know what you mean!Parenting is tough!… & I’m not even close to out of the trenches!
What you mentioned about it being hard to not be critical reminds me of an episode last night on “Everybody Loves Raymond.” I just caught the last half, but it seemed to be about active listening & expressing empathy & how if people feel heard, they let down their guard & are better able to correct on their own. Debra had a tough time with it, even though it was her idea to learn about it. I think I know why. As a mom, my kids are like pieces of my heart walking around outside of me. I’m around them all of the time & I’m sensitive to them… good & bad. It’s hard to have no strings attached, because I want the best for them!
Yet, as you mentioned, it’s of prime importance to let them be who they are & let us be who we are.
It’s like we’re all learning the spiritual/psychological alphabet… & some of us are on a & some have moved on to b.
We all still have a long way to go! (I have to remind myself of this… to keep it all in perspective.)
