I wonder if this applies to our prayers as well.
I think that that meaning that we assign as whatever we identify as “answers to prayers” is literally life-changing in the sense that we change different parts of our lives – sometimes dramatically around that meaning, and the plan that is formulated to support achieving that meaning.
It’s been about 2 years since I looked at this thread, and I think I feel less hurt and confused. I trust more now that if God really needed to talk to me, God would sort it out – past my communication limitations. If my “failing to hear God” is a “hardware equipment failure” (whether I brought on myself or it just happened is academic) – I assume that it’s an inconvenience, not a problem to be solved anymore. And if it is a problem to be solved, it’s not “my problem” to be solved without explicit Divine Intervention:)
