    Not really relevant to the board (other than the fact some board members have native American connections), but a short documentary I found interesting and alarming.

    I think a pal of mine has got mixed up with some fake Indian soothsayer…

    Interesting. I have never heard much about it. My family has very little of the native culture left, so it hasn’t been an issue with us.

    It doesn’t surprise me. I know someone who is into plastic shamanism*, albeit for innocent purposes, but he’s got himself mixed up with some woman who’s moved over here and claims to be part Cherokee. He phones her premium rate number up, and she gives him a bunch of platitudes, supposedly after looking at Tarot cards and runes (very native American both of those…) and runs his phone bill up. I’m highly skeptical of her claim to be part-whatever native tribe, and think she’s taking advantage of the fact he’s got more money than sense.
