ParticipantThe most out of place thing related to that statement made by God about religion is that the Book of Mormon doctrine is essentially exactly the same as religion you could find in Joseph’s day. Makes God seem a little dramatic to use that strong of language and then give a new book of scripture that validates the doctrine of the day. May 6, 2016 at 2:55 pm #212550nibbler

The other side of that coin is that no one else has that authority and that all the pastoral actions,i.e.baptism, confirmation, ordination, blessing, healing, etc. performed by other churches’ priests and pastors aren’t recognized by God. I remember a conversation some years ago that I had with a rector of an episcopal church. He was trying to be ecumenical about it all until I told him what the church believes about his priesthood authority. It was not a happy moment.May 9, 2016 at 10:01 pm #212552Cadence
ParticipantSounds like God tends to be dramatic like most humans do when making a point Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It does open the door for need of ongoing revelation. Including personal revelation to put JS in context and help me temper teachings with the God that I know in my heart. An all wise, all loving, non-exclusive, non-respector of persons kind of god I worship, who is far greater than just dealing with mormons alone and does not snub the others.
There’s the prophet’s revelation, there’s personal revelation, but there seems to be little tolerance for a bunch of members with like personal revelations sharing them.
