Quote:Humbling to remember that a talk that does little for you was exactly what someone else needed to hear. The language of the Spirit has a dialect unique to each of us.

ParticipantHank is up to bat. He has one of those voices that will resonate in my ears for a long time. Uchtdorf still wins.

ParticipantWell I missed a bunch of the start of the prophet’s talk. Edit. Also missed that it wasn’t Pres Nelson. Had to change to YouTube from LDS.com.

ParticipantPoor Adam and Eve, Sariah and Lehi and their parental failings at having unpeaceful homes. 4th Nephi as the model.
No manner of ites. (I could write an entire thesis on this.) (Ask me about it later.)

ParticipantPride. (I agree) – The We’re Number 1 idea comes to my mind. April 6, 2019 at 5:42 pm #236232mom3
ParticipantI do like the idea of “faith in Jesus Christ” instead of lecturing. I like that he points out that lecturing or fixing the person doesn’t help I am on the bandwagon with his idea’s here. I will keep this quote in my notes.

ParticipantFamily members must see you growing (not lecturing, pleading). April 6, 2019 at 5:45 pm #236234Daughter1
ParticipantYour faith grew from following the challenge to read the BoM faithfully. From studying and underlining and all that… (severely paraphrased) And that challenge is why I’m here today!
Yay for everyone getting the same outcome!!!
/sarcasm.

ParticipantWe can also do more than pray. We can hold tongues before we speak. We can do better on our end. April 6, 2019 at 5:49 pm #236237mom3
ParticipantThis is where the ite problem comes in. Can’t we love without the need for everyone being the same ‘ite’? April 6, 2019 at 5:52 pm #236238Daughter1
ParticipantI shared in my introduction that I find my family more of a shelter, more of a support, and more of a place to openly share my fears and concerns now that we aren’t all active, traditional members than I ever felt when we were. So I would say that the family who embraces the love the Christ exhibited stay close, no matter where they are. Also – this conference is a lot about missionaries. I always feel like each session has a theme. And that one seems to stand out. I haven’t ever felt like sharing my faith much. It probably came from growing up with evangelical friends. I saw when proselyting goes to far. I saw discrimination. I saw that I was a better example if I was just myself and not a Mormon. And now I believe everyone has a unique path home to God. And my form of missionary work is encouraging everyone to find their path and draw close to God. I really don’t care of that’s the Mormon path, the Hindu path, the Muslim path, the secular path, or anything else. As long as the path is lined with love and brings someone closer to God, I am happy to support them.

Interesting. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard that story about the successful missionary with lots of baptisms, who tells the secret of his success as imagining everyone he meets in white baptismal clothing. I never really liked the focus on baptism statistics as a missionary.

I actually loved that Eyring used the word “suggestion” in talking about Pres. Nelson and the BoM. I hope that doesn’t get edited in print because I plan to capitalize on it.
