SilentDawning
ParticipantHad an odd Sunday. My daughter sick, our house ripped apart due to renovations, and I had school work (student work) to do that took about 8 hours. so, my wife and kids all unanimously voted to stay home. I painted a desk with my son. My daughter slept and rested, and my wife assembled furniture. The house was busy as a beehive, and my son and I bonded over the painting. He learned how to open a paint can, close it, hammer it shut without splattering paint everywhere, how to dip the brush in the bucket without submerging it up to his hand, and how to assemble and disassemble handles.
Everyone got along and it was very Zion-like with everyone helping each other at different times (except my sleeping daughter).
I thought it was a highly spiritual day, and a great alternative to church for that day.

ParticipantFantastic Silent Dawning. We had a similar day in my house. My daughter is recovering from surgery, so we stayed with her, put up our Christmas tree, and enjoyed the quiet. I do miss singing Christmas Carols in church, I love singing O Little Town of Bethlehem with a ward.

KeymasterWhat a good exercise in “trading up” SD. Always trade up.

KeymasterGood family time is good family time. Period. December 17, 2013 at 5:39 am #127801Jazernorth
ParticipantMy wife surprised me with nearly the same thing. We were in sacrament meeting, the sacrament was just finishing and she said, “I want to go home.” I said, “OK, let’s go”. We did, after my kid sang with the primary. This happens periodically, I think it is my wife understanding my need to be gone. -
