Yes!. Halloween allows introverts to come out of their shell without prosecution or consequence ( the whole mask idea is to do what you ordinarily wouldnt do and nobody will ever know ) —- I’m guessing that is why they like the whole idea of Halloween so much) Once again – i love Halloween.
I got a flyer at church today for a Halloween Party at the church. It said that no masks were allowed and also no cross dressing or scary costumes (or something to that effect) and it also said it was church policy. I think they don’t allow that for functions or events held at the church but I have never heard anything about not being allowed to have or wear masks on halloween. I am not sure yet what I am going to do as most my boys costumes that they have are scary or come with masks but I am sure I will find something.
I’m pretty confident there is no church policy about it…but local leaders making rules that are good ideas (like schools) to protect the kids and keep the activity appropriate for families. Halloween is fun when the kids get excited.
I’ve never really understood why adults think it is a time of year you can dress really risque or slutty and that is fun!? Maybe that is just me.
We dressed my son up in a coconut bra, a grass skirt, a pair of flipflops and lipstick for the ward Halloween party. That was about 10 years ago I guess. I’m thinking someone forgot to tell us about the cross dressing rule! Halloween requires way too much imagination. I hate it.

After those first few posts I thought I was an anomaly. Guess it depends on what ward or area you are in. I have to take back what I said. Just got an invitation to a halloween party that the young men ad women are putting on for the primary. NO MASKS was emphasized on the invite. This is new to our area. Correlated from the top perhaps? I checked the manuals and there is nothing that I found there, I think it is one of those things that becomes policy because of repetition and getting carried from one place to another. There is nothing doctrinal or pretending to be so. I think as people have mentioned most likely based on security, I don’t think it is a bad idea. Yeah I know Halloween is over 
However I thought I would put in my two cents and get a head start for next year… or something like that…
I recall when I was in the first grade I loved Ninja Turtles. I tried on the Ninja Turtles Halloween mask and they smelled like clown makeup and rubber… So I didn’t want to wear it.
Next to the Halloween Masks were Hockey Masks. I wanted to wear it and be Casey Jones!!! Who was one of my favorite Ninja Turtle Characters.
Of course little did I know the Hockey Mask was actually a Jason mask from Friday the 13th “Ki Ki Ki Ki Ma Ma Ma Ma.”

Anyway at the time money was a little tight and this plastic glow in the dark hokey mask was cheap. My parents bought three Hokey masks for me and my two older brothers.
The Church party said something like ” Your costume is your ticket at the door. Please no masks” So my brothers and I went to the church without our masks. Since Casey Jones / Jason would wear every day street clothes that’s what we wore.
At the door if you were wearing a costume then you got a special little treat or toy. Since my brothers and I weren’t wearing costumes we didn’t get that treat or toy.
They had a costume judging contest. Since we didn’t have a costume we didn’t participate.
It seemed like more than half the activity required a costume – LAME!! So my brothers and I sat in the hallway.
I just wanted to vent an old annoyance
