Meh Mormon
ParticipantHi there. Long time lurker, first time poster! 😆 Let me start off by saying that I appreciate this site and the leverl of civil discussion that goes on. I am on another LDS chat site and if you disagree with something you are called some nasty names and nothing ever gets resolved. So thank you to the mods who keep thing civil.
I am from the Great White North and have lived here for all but 2 of my 40+ years (wow – I’m over 40 now
😥 ). I have been a member my entire life (my parents were converts) but I was inactive for many years. During that time I was married, had a child, started a business, but then it all fell apart. I came back to the church after that and my life has been better for it. I re-married about 6 years ago (she on here as well) and have a new carreer that is going great.I don’t really have that many issues with the church, but I do enjoy healthy discussions about the truth and not just what the church says is the truth. I am probably far more “liberal” in my views than most of the members in my area. For example, I don’t really care if gays/lesbians get married. They’re people to and should be allowed what others are allowed. I am a fully avtive member with a temple recommend and am trying to be a temple goer more often. I wear my garments most of the time, and pay my tithing, and all that. Please don’t hold that against me
.
I look forward to “meeting” all of you and hope to have some interesting discussions with you as well. And no, I’m not just here to spy on my wife.

ParticipantWelcome. I always find it refreshing to know that there are members who hold different opinions than the majority of LDS. Diversity and open-mindedness is invaluable at church  July 12, 2013 at 11:13 pm #172137Roy
KeymasterWelcome Meh to the Isle of Misfit Toys. We are all different but together we form a community. Remember the parable of the blind men describing an elephant?
We are all Mormon in different ways and our unique perspectives add to and complement the experience of the whole.
I look forward to learning more from you!

ParticipantWelcome
I’d love my wife to join the forum. I’ve mentioned it a couple of times, but she’s happy for it to be my space.
Don’t need to apologise for the way you live the gospel. I sometimes feel I need to (either too much or too little ‘compliance’ depending on the forum). But not here. Here, I’m among friends who occasionally disagree but always respect wherever I’m ‘at.’

ParticipantWelcome to this group. I am glad that you don’t have too many issues and that you attend and pay tithing and wear garments. We encourage all that if that is what you are good with. You will be a nice addition and if your wife also participates all the better. I’m not to sure we have many couples that post. July 15, 2013 at 11:55 am #172141mackay11
ParticipantDid you mention who your wife is? Does she know? Or are all the ladies on the forum now thinking… “Is it my husband?” July 15, 2013 at 1:26 pm #172142Meh Mormon

I sometimes wonder what makes our site different in this way, I don’t think the active moderating shapes the tone as much as what is probably our attitude toward “I know THE CORRECT answer” type comments. In my opinion anyone who can’t acknowledge that they may be wrong needs to grow some charity and delve deep into the words of Christ.
