I just saw this posting on Mormon Newsroom. This brightened my day. It seems like more and more the top leadership is working towards a culture of understanding. Finding nuggets like this has brought comfort to me while I navigate my faith transition. Note the paragraph that says:

    Quote:

…in seeking after anything that is “virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy” whatever the source may be, and that God “will yet reveal many great and important things” to His children.

Contrast that with our recent Stake Conference where the local mission pres and 2 members of the stake presidency berated those who question or look outside the official church teachings for answers. A stake conference like that can be really difficult to navigate. There is years of “the wicked take the truth to be hard” kind of indoctrination that hits you while another voice reminds us that we are:

    Quote:

“not asked to blindly accept everything [we] hear.”

While the stake one still frustrates me, I really hope the other message trickles down soon. I would love to hear more of Pres. Uchtdorf’s rhetoric in conference.

Thanks for the link! I am also encouraged. I love to hear top leaders preach the pure gospel.

Johnh has started a similar thread on the talk if you wanted his perspectives on it.
