ParticipantI came across the following “poem” (I guess you can call it that). I thought it was quite inspirational. http://thequietplaceproject.com/thedreamsroom/comfortspot/518ed314c124b
Quote:the world is heavy
but your bones
(just a cubic inch)
can hold 19,000 lbs
ounce for ounce
they are stronger
than steel
atom for atom
you are more precious
than diamond
and stars have died
so that you may live
you need to remember
these things when you
say that you are weak
and worthless
It reminded me of something from Lawrence Krauss:
Quote:The amazing thing is that every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics:
You are all stardust.
You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements — the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution — weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way they could get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode.

ParticipantI’ve thought about this a bit more. If I can believe evolution is the way God created man (and I can believe that), then I can believe physics is how God created the universe. May 25, 2014 at 4:46 pm #186368MockingJay
Participanti love this and think about these kinds of things almost every day now. For some reason, I’m much more inspired by ideas like these lately than anything I’ve read or heard in church for a long time.

ParticipantYes it’s cheesy. Though no more , probably less then a Disney or church video. But the analogy and view I rally like . The sense of wonder relayed in a more complex way of understanding the universe and our relationship to it.
