ParticipantQuote:Larry King: All your life has been in the church?
Gordon B. Hinckley: Yes, because when I came home from my mission I’d received my doctor — my bachelor’s degree before I went on a mission. That’s unusual now, but it was not uncommon then. And when I came back, the heads of the church asked me to come and work there. I pioneered in the public relations work of the church.
I thought you might like this quote for 2 reasons. One it’s a quote from a well respected prophet recently. And 2- that it is not just a quote but a action by the prophet.
He got his degree before the mission. By action and by quote you can see it was ok to get the degree before mission. If it helps to break the ice with your education or other things. Of it helps to reflect or bring it up positively to others if I suited about your needs of education or other that it need not be sacrificed.
Hope it helps.
