KeymasterI think it’s 400 times if you limit it to diameter only. September 30, 2017 at 8:42 pm #224908Joni
ParticipantThe opening prayer to this session was kind of weird. I gave up trying to follow it and just thumbed through the new IKEA catalog. Youth choir sounds great.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised that the talk about social media didn’t go where I thought it was gonna go.

I thought so too. I’ll have to make a point of revisiting it once the videos of conference are up go back and see what made it stand out to me.

ParticipantI agree about the choir. I liked the medley, partly because they’re two of my favorites anyway. Stevenson definitely could have gone there, Joni, but came up just short and I’m glad he didn’t. Nevertheless, I think he went far enough for the anti-techies in my area to stretch it to their liking because they do such things all the time.

ParticipantOooh, if I only had a dollar for every humblebrag I’ve heard in testimony meeting… Hey! He just used the word “modesty” correctly!

ParticipantSometimes a coincidence is just a coincidence. If we’re going to ascribe every coincidence to God, we’re creating a pretty significant theological conundrum for ourselves. Although it does make for interesting stories in F&T meeting.

😆
I agree, I’m not buying into much of this one. And if we subscribe to the Dirk Gently philosophy it’s all coincidence. I lean more to Dirk.

KeymasterIf everything is by direct divine design, including Rasband’s appointment to the office of apostle he might add… Considering things that have happened in my life… I think god left me in the oven too long… or not enough, I’m not sure.

ParticipantWe’ve heard from 6 of the 11 apostles present in two sessions. Wonder if that means anything? September 30, 2017 at 9:21 pm #224916nibbler

ParticipantI failed to mention I did like the talk about the Prodigal Son. I don’t recall the Seventy’s name, but he nailed it. We are all Prodigals. September 30, 2017 at 9:32 pm #224918DarkJedi

…Make that seven.

ParticipantSorry President Nelson, but if I was offered either diamonds + rubies or the Book of Mormon, I’d take the diamonds + rubies. After all, they give out the B of M for free. 😆 EDIT: I may have just yelled ARE YOU KIDDING ME when he told the story about reading the B of M leading to higher test scores. That would be a NOPE.

KeymasterI missed the second session to attend a Catholic wedding of two people from the university where I used to work who know my wife very well (the whole wedding/mass combination). It was 70 minutes long, so just like attending Sacrament Meeting on Saturday.
I appreciate anything almost that brings peace and joy to others, but I have to admit mass doesn’t do it for me. This one was cool, since it also included a wedding, but weekly or daily, as some of my friends do? Nope. I will take General Conference, even when it is a mixed bag.
Just a little attempt at perspective.
