When Jesus’ disciples refused to associate with sinners, Jesus taught them about love.

Elder Hales’ talk really was beautiful.

Carol McConkie – Prayer as precious time with Heavenly Father. (Spoke faster than Elder Hales’; I didn’t quite catch.) There also wasn’t anything that lept out at me.

Oh great. The first talk I’m able to listen to is Joseph Smith worshipping.

No complaints about the first three talks, all centered on core gospel principles.

Joni, there has to be at least one. I accept that as axiomatic. It’s an orthodox talk for the orthodox members. It’s cool.

Struggling with erroneous or misleading information about Joseph Smith? What about the stuff that is actually 100% true, such as marrying fourteen-year-olds behind his wife’s back?

This is probably the worst talk I’ve heard in a long time.

I think it would have been a perfectly fine talk without that. Can’t we love and appreciate the good without being told the bad doesn’t really exist.

I don’t seek “blessings from under Joseph Smith’s hand.” To the extent that he helps me seek them from God, Joseph is a prophet.

There is a great message in Elder Uceda’s talk that probably won’t get attention:

He was blessed / saved in the middle of his “disobedience”.

Nice quotables surrounding “Only men do that.” I’ll have to wait for the transcript though, it went by too quick. Something like:

I won’t bless you because you only come around when you need something. Only men do that.

I can’t help you I’m too busy. Only men do that.

Doubling down on the Joseph Smith worship is probably going to accelerate the rate at which my children’s generation will leave the church. They are not growing up in a time when Salt Lake controls the narrative.

I will try not to talk about this talk any more except to say that I need to get my hands on Rough Stone Rolling.

Elder Cornish is a wonderful person. He was serving in the Domincan Republic when my father-in-law had his life-ending stroke, and his loving support was a true blessing.

I love this talk. It is one that will get put on my favorite list.

    Juan Uceda –

“At the very moment we say ‘Father in Heaven,’ he hears your prayers.”

“He will see you with eyes of love and mercy.”

And unlike what we often say about God being put out and insulted by us running to him in times of trouble,

    Quote:

    Only men say that.

    Elder Cornish

The answers to the questions am I good enough and will I make it is “yes!”

Also, don’t compare yourself with others, compare yourself with your past self or who you want to become.

Not comparing ourselves to others – good message. (Sorry, didn’t catch his name)

I like where this is going.

‘Believe in others when they don’t believe in themselves’ would be excellent advice to the spouse of someone experiencing a faith crisis. Beating down the already beaten down is counterproductive.
