ParticipantOk I have to rant somewhere… First I got chewed out because I was lugging my primary class bag back and forth, instead of leaving it in the primary room. I’ve had this calling for oh about three weeks now, they handed me a bag my first Sunday, it contained the manual, art supplies (crayons and paper) and pictures…meh I thought cool. Apparently I am supposed to leave it all there in the class room every Sunday and they hand them back out during the opening stuff…leaving me no time to prepare any lesson. (meh, right?) I wouldn’t have minded knowing this to begin with, but no…instead I get an angry call last night about I am messing up the whole system….I say oh I am sorry I didn’t know that and will bring it all on Sunday. fine
Then I get chewed out today (btw today is Mardi Gras aka Shrove Tuesday) because I brought in a King Cake. Usually something I do for Mardi Gras….it comes from my father being Catholic (shocking I know). Well I know quite a good deal about the Catholic church and think celebrating with them today is great fun. However, a member I work with thinks it’s just appalling that I would even consider it, and I think she thinks I am going apostate, over a freakin’ King Cake. Glad I didn’t tell her about the plastic Baby Jesus baked into the cake…I am sure she would poop kittens.
End of rant. Thanks.

😆 …hadn’t heard that one…LOL.If it makes you feel any better, I got chewed out once for bringing Coffee cake in…
😯 (I had to explain it really doesn’t have coffee in it…its just the name…I was still lectured on the appearance of evil…as I at yummy cake and listened to the lecture). I should have called it Postum cake.I know my mind gets warped, but if people you are working with in Primary get really bent out of shape about that stuff…it presents some fun things you can try to do to get reactions out of them.
😈 I say, bring the bag back on Sunday totally empty and say, “Oh, you wanted all the stuff inside it too?” …they can be fun to tease.:shh: February 22, 2012 at 6:39 am #151582hawkgrrrl
ParticipantArwen – ya gotta laugh at this stuff or you’ll cry. People can be so ridiculous! I don’t know what a King Cake is, but sounds yummy, and you are embracing the good of other faiths as JS said! After all, it is cake. Since when do Mormons turn down sweets? In general, don’t worry what people think of you (well, except us, but we like you!), but in specific, don’t worry one iota what stupid people think of you! What a frustrating situation – sorry!

KeymasterAs my father used to say, Quote:“Holy merciful heavens! Sometimes people are just stupid.”
What Hawk said. If you don’t want to cry, accept it as part of the theatre of the absurd and enjoy a good laugh.

ParticipantArwen- We are glad you have a place to rant. We all use this board for that. Everyone of us has a story to match yours. And on good days they make us smile and say, “Bless Her Soul” to the kind lady who had a kittens. Just for the record I sat in a church planning meeting for a sock hop the other day, sure while we were planning refreshments someone panned the idea of using plastic cups with Coca-cola written on the side of it. I tried to muzzle my snort into a sneeze. I don’t know if I succeeded. February 23, 2012 at 1:19 pm #151585SamBee
ParticipantCouldn’t you have brought along teacakes for the people who didn’t want coffeecake? Yeah, the LDS don’t have any problem celebrating Christmas and Easter, so why should they be upset about Mardi Gras?

Couldn’t they provide a closet?
