From my experience at my local chapel, games like clash of clans – pokemon go – and plants vs. Zombies were already blocked.

Therefore to specifically put clash of clans on the banned list makes we wonder if it had previously banned in some chapels and others not (up to local leadership). Or perhaps it had always been banned on church Wi-Fi and now it is just being codified in writing.

To give the church the benefit of the doubt – I can see where they feel the need to do this (separate and apart from forcing the members to pay more attention). I have been in meetings where they have asked the congregation to turn off all devices to free up bandwidth for the presentation/broadcast.

On the church boredom side of this – it’s not just us FC people who are bored. I spoke at a Stake Conference a few months back. This means I can see everyone from my seat. We had a visiting Pastor from a local church. He spoke for 15 minutes. Everyone was listening, smiling, attentive. After him, it was Mormons as usual. Phones out, heads down, killing time till the refreshments were served.

Our boredom comes not just from the messages but from our one note number deliveries. We all know what everyone’s going to say. Yes a particular, unique story might bring us out of our stupor, but for the most part. We’ve heard it, seen it, rehashed and cliched it to death.

No amount of blocking is going to save that problem.

I always haul my kindle with me. It’s much easier to get lost in a book until the closing prayer than trying to navigate the internet.

Interesting discovery… the Youtube App still works, even if Youtube does not work through a browser!

Just use your data plan and you’re back on.

No good to me. I’ve already run out of data for this month.

If you get the Youtube app you can still watch it.

Myspace? Next thing you know they’ll block all links to the dancing baby and all your base…

Maybe they’ll at least forget HamsterDance.
