    Most BPs that I’ve known have been very up front about one of the purposes of tithing settlement being an opportunity to meet with everybody. For them tithing was just an excuse to hold the meeting; the true purpose was personal interaction with all the ward members… and I really do take them at their word.

    Me too. In fact, I like that approach from a leader, where the money paid is less important than the relationship they want to build.

    There are many many good bishops devoting a lot of time right now. Great sacrifices by their families.
