OK, so given my daughter’s rendition of how incredibly silly I looked in various positions in my pew last Sunday, fast asleep, I divined to seek revelation on how to best be a mentally active member of the Ward during Sacrament meeting. I prayerfully asked for guidance, and then sat down to seek it through my Internet Explorer browser. Here is what I found; a brief article chock full of advice.

If it wasn’t for the Word of Wisdom more people would stay awake.

The dry cleaners would use straight pins to close the plastic bags covering my dad’s suits. Dad would take the straight pins out of the bags and slide them into the hem of his pocket. Come Sunday, he would poke us kids in the rear end with the straight pin from time to time. We would squeal and my mom would shoot us the evil eye. By the end of the meeting, my mom was annoyed with us, we were squirming in the pews to protect our posteriors, and my dad’s sides were sore from laughing so hard.

We never slept through church except for the years he was bishop or on the high council.

Ahhh, I remember the good ol days when I had little tikes that were so rambunctious that I was busy herding them I didn’t even know what the speakers were talking about, and I had to keep taking the toddlers out in the hallway. Those were the days.

Every good Utah Mormon swigs a liter of Mt Dew or Diet Coke on Sunday morning! :)
