KeymasterJust want to open a thread to discuss Pres. Uchtdorf’s talk this morning. I’ll start with:
Pres. Uchtdorf might challenge Elder Wirthlin on my list of all-time favorite apostles – and that’s saying something. When he talked about not dismissing or belittling the “canned goods Mormons” and mentioned again those those who struggle because they feel different . . .
I really love that man.

ParticipantI love that he talked on LOVE as primary to the gospel twice in a row now! April 4, 2010 at 7:03 pm #130318Peaceandjoy
ParticipantHis was my favorite so far! Amazing! It certainly helped to have the choir sing “This is the Christ” right before it. My husband said that his priesthood talk on patience was excellent too!

ParticipantI was glad to see people like Uchtdorf and ?Koichi Aoyama giving such good talks. It gives me hope about the internationalization of the church. He talked about ?Buchsenmormonen (not sure what the exact German was here), i.e. tinned food Mormons who were Germans that took aid from the LDS in America after WWII. He pointed out that far from being mere parasites, the third and fourth generation descendants of some of these people are still in the church in Germany. although at the time some German LDS cold shouldered them. I liked the talk because it was about giving aid, without being haughty or judgemental. Very topical since we have had several awful disasters in the last year or two.
I do, however, have serious endurance problems. It’s really difficult physically sitting through all of it.

ParticipantI only saw part of his talk but love that man too. The churches aid to my parent after WWII in Berlin kept us alive. I loved his importance of unconditional love. April 4, 2010 at 9:11 pm #130321Saganist
ParticipantUchtdorf’s talk this morning was probably my favorite General Conference talk of all time. He emphasized empathy, compassion, service, putting your words into action, and treating others as you would be treated. It was pretty much everything I could hope for from a conference talk. ParticipantI loved his talk. I thought it was the best one of the entire conference and one of the best I’ve ever heard. (He isn’t hard on the eyes either!) April 5, 2010 at 12:23 am #130323just me
ParticipantHis talks are always my favorite. This one didn’t disappoint. April 5, 2010 at 1:46 am #130324findingmyownfooting
Participantditto on what everyone else said April 5, 2010 at 2:31 am #130325Old-Timer
KeymasterI love the imagery of the handless statue of Jesus, with the sign that says, “Let us be His hands.” (or whatever it said – too lazy to listen again tonight, although I plan on listening again) April 5, 2010 at 2:34 am #130326just me
ParticipantMe too, there is a Christian Worship song about being Christ’s hands and feet that I like. Can’t remember the name or I’d find it on youtube. April 5, 2010 at 4:05 am #130327Tom Haws
ParticipantAmen, everybody. It was good. I’m listening again right now. April 5, 2010 at 7:22 am #130328Cnsl1
ParticipantI agree. This was the very best GC talk I’ve heard in a long time. Some of my family missed it as it was the first talk in the am session, so this evening I had everyone watch it again. Uchtdorf’s talk in the Sat priesthood session was also very good. April 6, 2010 at 2:22 pm #130329Euhemerus
ParticipantWell, maybe I am missing something. So, I actually did love this talk he gave. Best talk I’ve heard in a long time. But to me it actually seemed like a departure for him. Usually (I thought) he talks about duty, obedience, and the like, and is a bit shy on what I would consider “pure religion.” Have I not been listening closely enough? Someone call me out if so? ParticipantSince he was sustained an apostle in Oct 2004 Conference, here have been the titles of his past talks: The Love of God (Oct 2009)
Two Principles of Any Economy (Oct 2009) (re: Work and Learn)
We Are Doing a Great Work and Cannot Come Down (April 2009) (re: Priorities)
The Way of the Disciple (April 2009)
The Infinite Power of Hope (Oct 2008)(**Happens to be my favorite) Lift Where You Stand (Oct 2008)
Happiness, Your Heritage (Oct 2008)
A Matter of a Few Degrees (Apr 2008)
Faith of Our Father (Apr 2008)
Have We Not Reason to Rejoice? (Oct 2007)
Point of Safe Return (Apr 2007)
The Power of a Personal Testimony (Oct 2006)
See the End from the Beginning (Apr 2006)
Christlike Attributes—the Wind beneath Our Wings (Oct 2005)
The Fruits of the First Vision (Apr 2005)
The Opportunity to Testify (Oct 2004)
To me, it seems that since he was called to be in the 1st Presidency, his talks are more focused around the Love of God.
