KeymasterHe simply doesn’t understand that those who are or have been “all in” still can struggle. That’s fine. He just doesn’t understand. That’s all. April 1, 2017 at 9:05 pm #220822mom3
ParticipantQuote:Holland’s talk didn’t do it for me. Sure he said some things that needed to be said and I’m grateful for it but he also said some things that rang 100% hollow for me. I’ve been trying to capture a specific message this conference, a message that I need for my unique situation, a message that perhaps a general conference is incapable of giving.
I’ll show myself the exit now.
NIbbler – Don’t go without a hug from me. We need a hug emoji.

I’ll believe it when they walk the walk instead of talking the talk.
Edit: Sorry for the cynicism. Keep up the slow work. I just can’t base my life on their empty promises.
I get it too. How can he say there’s room, yet excommunicate those who don’t meet a certain standard, etc.? But I’m glad it’s at least getting said by one lots of members love and respect.
FWIW, I know that my SP is aware of some same sex couples cohabiting and has done nothing.

Participant“All in” also used to be slang for worn out or exhausted. Some of us are definitely all in in that sense. I’ve missed most of the talks today… DH and I are battling the plague and we’ve been taking turns napping. The first talk I heard in its entirety was Holland’s. That was a good talk.

I agree Ray.

KeymasterLanguage loss (and the accompanying culture loss) is a fascinating topic. (Logging out now) April 1, 2017 at 9:08 pm #220827mom3
ParticipantBye Ray – Have a good afternoon. April 1, 2017 at 9:12 pm #220828DoubtingTom
ParticipantOh boy, another story about paying tithing vs buying food. Of course – pay your tithing first. April 1, 2017 at 9:13 pm #220829DarkJedi
ParticipantThis one isn’t doing it for me. Most here will probably want to give it a miss. April 1, 2017 at 9:13 pm #220830ydeve
Participant“Language events” doesn’t help with language loss. It needs to be a essential component of day-to-day conversation. His second point (children wantingto speak the language) is how you preserve a language. The “teaching events” don’t really make a big difference. April 1, 2017 at 9:13 pm #220831mom3
ParticipantYeah this is going down as my least favorite talk of the day. I was hoping it would go another direction. April 1, 2017 at 9:14 pm #220832Joni
ParticipantWe have GOT to stop perpetuating the idea that if you pay your tithing instead of feeding your children, everything will be okay. That is FALSE. April 1, 2017 at 9:16 pm #220833mom3
ParticipantQuote:ydeve – The “teaching events” don’t really make a big difference.
Agreed. I have relatives who weren’t great examples yet their kids did great and the entire family is still strongly connected. These relatives went to NFL games and skiing on Sunday. The head of this slacking family was called as a Bishop.

ParticipantEnglish wouldn’t exist without “mixing traditions.” This talk isn’t doing it. April 1, 2017 at 9:17 pm #220835mom3
ParticipantTime to make a sandwich. -
