KeymasterTalk is over now. I don’t think leaders can see that this is the sort of mindset that’s such a turnoff to the rising generation.

KeymasterI like this man (Joaquin Costa) as a person. We’ll see if I like the talk.

Agreed, just another doubling down talk IMO. I have a complex relationship with DTC. Sometimes I love him and sometimes not so much.

KeymasterI like this talk. I like personal experiences, generally, but I like how humble and gentle he obviously is. Simple, heart-felt testimony is cool. April 2, 2017 at 8:38 pm #220906nibbler

I like it. He’s upbeat. Happy. Positive. Sincere. Plus it’s hard not to like that smile.

ParticipantSimple, heartfelt testimony. Reminds me of the best parts of my mission. April 2, 2017 at 8:40 pm #220908Old-Timer
KeymasterIt’s a good reminder to hear someone say how concerned and even scared new Mission Presidents can be. April 2, 2017 at 8:43 pm #220909Old-Timer
KeymasterQuote:“Then, Jesus beholding him, loved him.”
What a great statement.
This is a great talk so far.

ParticipantI didn’t serve, but am grateful that our daughter’s MP was such a loving person. April 2, 2017 at 8:47 pm #220911ydeve
ParticipantThe part that’s missing is listening and empathy. There’s still the rhetoric of fixing people. “When family and friends fail to live up to our expectations…” and “Chose to follow the easier path.” We have no idea what the “easier path” is for other people. April 2, 2017 at 8:52 pm #220912Old-Timer
KeymasterThe rhetoric of helping to fix people will never disappear, as long as differences, weakness, and sin are part of the conversation. The only thing that can be asked is that the attempts be made sincerely from real love – and even that has sharp edges. Think of this site and how often we wish we could just fix people – and the talks they give over the pulpit.

KeymasterBut you still wouldn’t want to invite one over for dinner. April 2, 2017 at 9:01 pm #220915Old-Timer
KeymasterAs a talk addressed specifically to children, this is basic but good. “Setting convention aside . . .” I like it and wish it was better understood and more often employed.
