The following link is to a post I just read that is profound on multiple levels. I understand that it might be painful to some here who are in wards and branches that are far from what it describes, but I want to share it for two reasons:

    1) It’s an important message, in and of itself, and needs to be shared as widely as possible, imo.

    2) Part of what it addresses is not JUST a function of leadership but of our own, individual, intentional focus on participating in a real kind of “atonement” within the Church. There is much we can do regardless of our situations, even in very difficult conditions, to “lay down our lives” to serve others who need a good Samaritan – and I use that term intentionally, fully understanding the direct applicability of it given how the Samaritans were seen in their day and how many who participate here are seen by many others in our day.

I agree…I think Leonard Cohen summed it up best in my opinion

It’s not a cry you can hear at night

It’s not somebody who has seen the light

    It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah.

It’s those in need of the Atonement that understand and can succor the best. We should not let the dogma of our religion get in the way of being real Christians.
