    Greetings and Salutations,

I am new here. I dunno how much I’ll actively participate, life often gets busy for me. I am here because I want to be around people who are aware of the issues and who want to stay LDS and make things better. I did not have a big cataclysmic event or anything just a slow dawning of awareness, like a sunrise, of things that are in need of fixing.

    edited: to fix grammatical error.

    Welcome Ruthie.

From what I understand about assumptive realities, when new information is delivered in small doses then the assumptive reality grows organically with the added information. This is the preferred method of adaptation.

The major breakage is painful and can be destructive on multiple levels. I believe this is the goal behind “inoculation” efforts for the saints.

I’m gald that your process was fairly peacful. I welcome your perspective to the group.

Roy, I did have one moment where I thought about leaving the church. I found out that the boy programs get more funding than the girl programs, so more money is poured into Boy Scouts than into Activity Days, that kind of thing. To me that is so blatant and spoke louder than any words ever used by the general authorities. I felt betrayed and angry and thought maybe I should leave. I prayed, asking, “should I leave?” I felt an arm over my chest, like someone hugging me from behind with one arm and an overwhelming feeling of “stay and help make things better.” So, I stay.

What an awesome experience – and I love the principle of it.

+1 Thanks for sharing that Ruthie. I shall lift where I stand.

That could become the board’s motto. Thanks.

Ray, it was an awesome experience. I often go back to it in my mind whenever I feel down about the state of the church.

Mackay11 I’d be okay with that if the admins wanted to use it as their motto. ^_^

Roy, lift where you stand, I like that. It’s another way of saying bloom where you are planted.

Well, I’m going to say hi and welcome. We may not get along always, but if you want to staylds, this is a good site with sine good folks, myself excluded, to help navigate that very difficult middle way path. Good luck.

I think this is a good way of looking at anything. Change will happen within the ranks, not from the outside. I have also had powerful revelation regarding different aspects of my life. It is special when it happens, don’t ever forget it. Sometimes it takes time to figure out what He is trying to tell you, but you always figure it out eventually because the spirit will also tell you it is correct.

God bless you and I look forward to seeing other posts.

Okay, so this is weird. I totally responded, but my post isn’t there. This is the second time this has happened. Weird. . .

Anyway, Heavy Laden amen to that.

If the board wants to use “stay and make things better” as their motto, go for it.

Ruth, perhaps you might tell us a little more about yourself.

Ohla and Welcome. Glad to have you here. I too think it is a great blessing to be around others who think in similar ways.
