The below is a post from Wheat & Tares about the church financially bailing out various high profile people.

    What do y’all think?

I live far away from Utah. I can say it makes it hard to write out the tithing check yesterday knowing it could be used for things like this.

I think I’m going to hope that this is more a thing of the past than present. Naive?

I really hope that ALL churches, as well as our own government, develop a policy of ABSOLUTE transparancy in all financial dealings. For the first time in history, we have the technology. I think it would lead to much wiser speding and allocation of resources.

Was it possible that the church needed Dunn’s building? That may justify it somewhat, but It sounds like a conflict of interest, anyway, if the church is buying property from high ranking GA’s. They are really strict about us average rank and file members carrying on business activities in the church (I experienced that when I was a young, naive 25 year old and made up a missionary-oriented t-shirt I sold to missionaries — I got my hand slapped really quick).

I think they should be just as militant with GA’s. The church has a reputation for being hard to do business with anyway, I’ve heard , from various construction people.
