When did they stop using wine for the sacrament?

I was giving a lesson in RS today about the sacrament, and of course used D&C 27:2-3 where it says water or wine could be used in 1830.

But when the WoW was given in 1833 it specifically made an exception that wine could be used for the sacrament, as long as you made it yourself.

Anyone know when they stopped doing that?

According to a undocumented statement, wine was used commonly up until 1912, and in some place until 1922 according to the comments (a couple years after the start prohibition which did allow the use of sacramental wine.)

Interesting that it was finally bumped off after prohibition came in.

So did the church used to make its own wine?

I would have thought water was also commonly used before that time. It makes sense that as the WoW was becoming a binding commandment in the church the use of fermented wine for the sacrament would be on the way out.

Yes, they used to make a wine called Dixie-Wine. It was very tasty according to record.It was a great revenue maker. From that I imagine that the church did make it’s own wine for sacrament, or at least left the option open to individual wards to decide.
