My wife has the following stuck on our refrigerator. I saw it tonight and thought I’d share it, since I believe it is truly profound in its entirety – and when looked at as individual statements.

    Quote:

When I am angry, three things are true:

    1) There is something that I’m wanting that I’m not getting.

    2) I’m telling myself that someone ought to be giving it to me.

    3) I’m about to speak or behave in a way that will virtually assure that I won’t get what I want – or at least assure that even if I get it, it won’t be in the way I’d want it the most.

That is very true. That is something to think about next time I’m angry. I think it sort of makes me feel angry. I will say that sometimes I think I might rather get what I want rather than not get it at all or not in the way I want.

But getting things the way I want is the best way to receive.

Reading this quote makes me think that maybe I shouldn’t want things so much or be happy with my situation or the way things are even if things are rather difficult.

    Thanks for sharing!

When I’m angry, the statement “you should always be a little nicer than you think you should be” comes to mind. I’ve followed that mantra a number of times and I never regret it!!!
