whimsey
ParticipantHello, I’m whimsey. I’ve been visiting here at Stay LDS and like it because it’s . . . well, refreshing!
My journey has been a rather odd one to say in the least. I think I’m holding a world record for being a “dry” Mormon the longest, but am anticipating my baptism probably in the spring. I’m just one of those that putters around a bit and has to investigate every little corner and see it’s flaws. But, I also see it’s goodness too. And for me, the goodness out weighs the the other, so I want to stay LDS. Mind you, I have my own opinions on things and don’t feel the need to make a big “to do” about them at church, but rather stay a bit independent and a tad eccentric in my behavior and thinking. I think you can go about it politely and quietly and maintain a good outlook. I love the church, and enjoy it, however, I don’t think it will ever totally “own me”. I don’t know if that makes sense, but it is a good feeling rather than a negative one.
I love reading here and hope to get to know all of you.

GuestHi, Whimsey! What a nice perspective to have. I bet it might be fun to join the church in a NOM-ish way as an adult. KM

ParticipantYes, it is indeed different joining the church with some NOMish ideas and also as an adult who has experienced many things in life. The church serves me well, and I hope I can do the same for it. It would be cool to have Valoel for a teacher! And Prairie Chuck too!

Thanks for the welcome.

ParticipantWelcome, Whimsey! At times, I have often wished I could’ve found the church later in life, when I might have a somewhat more “objective” point of view about it. But then, if I did that, I wouldn’t be me. Look forward to connecting with you here.

KeymasterI agree, whimsey, that joining with your eyes wide open to the wonderfully sublime AND ridiculous is a great thing. Welcome!
