Why do some discussions have a flame?

I was just curious.

I thought you were saying the tone was “flaming” – as in angry. But you are asking about the icon by some topics. My assumption is that it is indicating this topic is “hot” as in active topic with lots of comments.

Any thread that has 25 post or more is labeled a “hot” topic. It’s a configurable thing with phpbb. 25 is the default.

I thought it meant it was controversial and nibbler was indicating that anyone posting on that thread is going to burn in the hot place for eternity …. Phew… Glad I was wrong
