ParticipantI know I have yet to receive any of my tithing blessings….kinda makes it hard to keep the faith. I am at the point now that I do what I can in living the way I can to make it back to heaven. It’s all I can do at this time, and if someone doesn’t like it they can bugger off. I don’t think God is nearly as harsh in his condemnation as humans are, I don’t think he is going to have a bunch of TBM in the CK, I think it will be righteous people from all religions and walks of life…much to the bewilderment of many members of the church.

ParticipantHow about instead of teaching women they are mere sex objects that at any move could make a man get aroused…we teach men not to rape women. Men could travel in pairs and if they feel like they are getting aroused by a womans body part moving then their friend can tell them…don’t rape a woman. If a man sees a woman in a swimming suit and can’t help but be aroused he can then blow a whistle and the other men can remove him from the premises. At what point do men actually get to be held accountable for their own actions and thoughts? I mean us wicked wicked women have been walking around all hip slinging boob bouncing for 6000 years so I know it’s gonna be tough on men to stop thinking it’s ok to see us as mere sexual objects when we let our figures be womanly and all.

ParticipantI have explained to my daughter that being a wife and mother is a great thing….she understands that, but they did tend to drive the tent stake in too far. I think that is all she heard when attending church…live worthily so a good Priesthood holder would deem her worthy of being a wife and mother only. Like she didn’t have any pick in who she would marry, so long as he was a Priesthood holder, didn’t matter if he was a total waste of space so long as he held the Priesthood and that she was going to be so lucky if some man lowered himself to marry her. I think that is where the crux of the issue is for my daughter…the church put her in the place of being the begger for some man to deem her worthy, she wasn’t worthy in her own merits. I think a lot of women see it this way too, the only way they can be a complete person is to be a wife and mother only…and then when they hit 35 they start to get depressed…there is a reason why Utah has the highest rate of anti-depressants prescribed :shh: Arwen
ParticipantNot if you’re a Democrat and a Mormon… 😈 Least wise you tell no one your a Democrat in church.
I know everyone is harping on Romney, but Huntsman has down played it beyond Romney. I don’t think a person can not just skip religion, but should own it, not make a big deal out of it, but don’t just ignore it. I think people want to see if a political person will stand by their religion. However, many LDS think that red states will favor an LDS candidate, which in most red states (barring Utah and Idaho) they hate Mormons still, think we are a cult. They are nice to our faces and will tolerate us, but behind our backs whoa boy do the insults fly. (one of the benefits of being inactive for years is people didn’t know I was LDS…and the stuff they say about member is whew…over the top

ParticipantYou know one of the best questions to make people squirm is this.. Who is Jesus Christ?
After they give the standard text book Son of God, Savior of mankind, ect. answers…It’s always fun to ask no…who is Jesus Christ to you?
People will shut up. Some will give some sort of um um um answer, but every once in a while you’ll get a real conversion testimony out of it.
I still think it’s fun to do…of course I like to watch the squirming.

ParticipantThis is why my daughter is no longer interested in the church…she’s 22. She came home from YW’s one Sunday in tears and said all the church values her for is her sexual reproductive qualities and that’s it…she said she didn’t want to be some brood mare in the next life time and that she would rather go to hell than just be some second class citizen only having rights if her husband gave them to her. She then went on to ask why all they teach the girls is to be wives and mothers? And what about the women like me who was so blessed to have their husbands run off with some younger girl…where did that leave those women if all they were were wives and mothers without any means of self support of self identity?
At that point I looked at her and told her she didn’t have to return if she didn’t want to…and she hasn’t. In the mean time she is at a big non-mormon college, earning her graduate level degree, while on the deans list and not planning on getting married for many years. And all those girls that were in her YW class are now mostly married and having babies…which is great, but I see the difference in the abilities my daughter has and will be able to offer her own children compared to the other girls. My daughter, if she gets married, won’t have to worry if her husband loses his job, or leaves her, she will be secure in her own right, which means she can choose a better more stable more secure in his own manhood man to marry. Plus she will be able to do things for her kids in the future that many of the other girls won’t. I tell her the next ten years of her life will show a huge difference in those who value themselves for more than just being a submissive wife and those who have the ability to think for themselves.
Sorry if that comes across harsh and sexist…but hey I couldn’t be more proud of her.

ParticipantI’ve never seen any blessings from tithing yet. I better have a huge mansion on my own planet in the next life time. Arwen
Participantcwald wrote:This has been said, kind of, but as far as women go, I think the whole garment requirement really saddles the females and what they can wear. jwald is the cutest little thing, petite and brown, and, well looks really good tank tops and skirts, and in many of the stylish cloths that garment wearing doesn’t accommodate for. Take the garments out of the picture and it would really make a difference on how a woman dresses, AND, AND —- I don’t think it has to be immodest at all, not one bit. Really, a little bit of shoulder and back is not immodest on my planet.
Now, myself – I just don’t care. I’m a crappy dresser regardless of whether I am wearing garments or not.
Just buy her garments two sizes too big…I can wear my garments with low backs due to the fact that I have lost weight and now they are all too big.
😈 Oh heck I can wear low cut in the front too!Arwen
ParticipantMaybe he has, but we don’t have it. Maybe he has others write down his thoughts and feelings. Or…
Maybe

ParticipantOne of the main problems I see is that thrifty does equate frump. And that is not necessarily so, a person can dress stylish on a cheaper budget. Of course I also feel that most of the women who dress frumpy, have self esteem issues. When a person feels good about themselves they tend to take better care of their looks.
The one thing that irritates me to no end is how LDS decorate their homes and keep their yards. Where I am at, the LDS members are bad about having really sloppy yards. Sure there are a few that have nice yards, but most are half taken care of and look bad. Back to homes…what the heck is with all the stuff???? I mean I understand food storage, sure…but really what is with the stacks of magazines and blankets on the couches and kitchens never being clean? yes it worse in LDS homes than other homes, at least that has been my experience.

ParticipantIf anyone has studied the Tibetan Book of the Dead (which would freak most TBM endowed members out), they will know that the HG works everywhere. I have found the HG dwells with many people, in all religions. Some of the most moving spiritual experiences I’ve had have been in other churches. Arwen
ParticipantYes. Most LDS women I know dress cheap…and old…and frumpy.
There is no law anywhere that we have to dress this way.
I work in as and executive assistant, if I dressed how most women in my ward dress, my boss would take me shopping. period. Yes I were dress suits, with pencil skirts and matching jackets to church. I also tend to wear more stylish outfits all the time, just who I am. We have a woman whose husband is the 1st Con. in Bish. and he dresses in a nice suit every Sunday, she dresses in a jumper that looks like a freaking potato sack. The contrast between the two of them together is night and day, he looks put together, she looks depressed. Maybe she is…

ParticipantAs a single woman….when I used to go through the temple, I would say to myself, does not apply to me..no husband. It’s easy to obey a husband, when you don’t got one, and that’s how I have always thought. I’m aiming for administrating angel to the dogs. I like them better than most humans anyways. I like to be alone, so threatening me with eternal aloneness doesn’t work.
Meh most of the time I think I was just over visiting you all and am actually a Child of a Lessor God.

Participant:eh: As an Introvert who comes from an abusive family background…sometimes the CK sounds more like hell to me. I would want to be with my children, the rest of my family not so much. Even though I have forgiven them, I don’t want to spend eternity around them. I’d rather be an administrating angle to dogs. How screwed up does that make me? Where do I fall in the order of all of this? bound for the lower kingdoms? Why did HF even create me then?
Arwen
ParticipantI’ve wonder this too…I’ve lost a good amount of weight and now all my garments are way to big. Which makes it really easy for me to wear lower cut shirts 😈 I realize that is not a good practice to do this, but I don’t have a recommend, don’t plan on getting one in the near future (me and tithing are not in agreement anymore). But they are so big on me that I could fit another person in there with me, it’s actually quite funny at times. I can wear off the shoulder blouses and still have my garments on. I can wear backless dresses and still have my garments on…that’s how off size they are now.I don’t wear shorts, never have, ugly legs. So the bottoms aren’t an issue, although they do tend to creep up all the time now.
