ParticipantI guess many us have reasons why we stay, but i had since made it my motto to: live as if there is a God (that includes accepting the church as true), at least i’ll get rewarded in the end; and if there’s no God, then i’ll have nothing to loose. Meanwhile, I’ll just do my best to keep the faith…

ParticipantThanks for posting this! This is the kind of story that leaves me wondering if life is a fair-deal, & if and when its all over, what will I be remembered for?
Hmmnn…

ParticipantI have been this board for a while, even though i rarely post. I have also seen this topic on another board – i complete ran therefrom (maybe i’ll a peep now.) That being said, i really think that every “truth” is independent in its own sphere, and serve it purpose in that sphere. Both religious “truth” – especially LDS revelations, and scientific “truth”, changes over time: hence both “fact” and “faith” of any given issue (in my own view), are subject to changes.
So, for me personally, when i find myself in the spot of having to make a pick, i evaluate which choice serves the greater good (for the moment) – you know that line in the bible about “line upon line”.

ParticipantI agree with Heber13 complete here. We learn that the purpose of the church is to help bring men to christ: “for this is my work and my glory….”
The problem is that sometimes we tend to attach too much value to the vehicle, forgetting that it is the objective of it that matters – a problem (in my view) i think they should seriously address.

ParticipantI have thinking about the issue this way: maybe its not all about the transgressor, as much as it is to set an EXAMPLE, or STANDARD for others not to commit the same crime (Sin), so as not to face the same music. …I dunno, just thinking…!
