When I first heard the idea that Father didn’t want us to know about Mother, I really liked it. It had a certain ring of respect to it. Then I later decided that that tends to elevate a “China Doll” status to her. If He can get in the dirt and work, why can’t she? Don’t the scriptures say that the preacher is not above the congregation? Anyway…. I like the idea that WE are the HG. If a new-age perspective can be taken for a moment, and we consider ourselves outside the construct of time, I can see the Holy Ghost as each of us as we were/are. That what we learn from it is really just us “remembering” of a sorts. Like more of the veil is taken away. The times I have “felt” the HG is when I gained new knowledge. For example, one time I was walking around campus and was suddenly hit with this “realization”: that we can give/take advice either selfishly or selflessly. That was it. I was instantly reminded of the week previous where I had tried to help a girl in chem lab, but she took the position that I was trying to show off, which was not my intent. Later, when I wasn’t even thinking of the incident, that popped into my head. That’s what I’m comfortable regarding as the HG. I would love to attribute it to certain good or bad feelings from certain situations, and I won’t try to say that the HG doesn’t have power to do that, but it doesn’t ring as true for me.
