    So my wife and I were discussing this over the weekend. She has fully left the Church and thinks the “Spirit” is just our conscious. I believe it can be both the Spirit and our conscious. I have also felt the Spirit very strong and most instances it was outside of a Church setting when I felt it.

    I like the idea that the Spirit isn’t telling you the Church is the only true one but that it is a “good” one. When I prayed about the Church being true before my mission, or if the BoM was true or if I should marry my wife, I never received a “yes”, I just felt good.

    This may require another thread but this brings up a question I have. Members receive the “Holy Ghost”. What makes that so much more special than just the “light of Christ” that we preach that everyone has? I know people that don’t have the “Holy Ghost” and feel the Spirit more than I do. They are of other religions or none at all and they are very in tune and seemed to be warned or guided what to do. Currently I’m not sure what I believe regard the receiving of the Holy Ghost.

    Thank you everyone for the encouraging words! BTW how do you link someones comment in my response?

    @LookingHard
    , I will have to look for that FB group. I have listened to a few of their podcasts and enjoyed them.

    @DarkJedi
    , thanks I will have a look at those books.

    @Heavy_Laden
    , thank you for the response. That is encouraging to hear that. It’s been hard because we are programmed in the church that one won’t receive all the “blessings” or your kids will go astray if the parents don’t do their part in the Church. I am now looking through different lenses but it’s still difficult.

    I agree. He has made some great changes and I believe he is inspired but the party was too much. I watched a couple of the clips from it on YouTube and it does seem like we are idolizing him. He seems to enjoy the spotlight. He also has a camera follow him around a lot. From his ministering trips overseas to visiting the California fire.

    Where did the money come from? I can’t imagine how much it must cost to host something like that at the conference center. The money could have been spent in better ways.

    Hey everyone, this is my first post but I have been lurking for a few weeks now.

    On Sunday before the sacrament the Bishop announced the new training over the pulpit. He said that he wants ever ward member to take the training even if they are not in a calling that works with the youth. I thought that was great that he did that and I think all members should take this training.

    My wife was sexually abused when she was 7 and it was never properly reported to the authorities. This is one reason that she has left the Church and sent me into a FC.

    I see this training as a step in the right direction but the Church is still lacking in some areas around abuse.
