My vote goes for “over-hyped” also. I don’t see the big deal.

Quote:I don’t know any man who would be upset about their wife getting turned on
Not a problem for me!
Quote:So if the roles were reversed would men be upset at their wives viewing porn? Probably not!
As long as the kids didn’t catch us.

ParticipantQuote:f4h1, I don’t remember a connection between 3 Nephi and the ending of Luke. Did you mean Matthew/the Sermon on the Mount and 3 Nephi?
Enoch, ya I am unfamiliar with any of these issues. Have they been talked about on other threads? Any info. appreciated!

ParticipantBrian Excellent podcast! Can you explain more regarding 3rd nephi and the ending of Luke?

Just because you feel guilty about something doesn’t mean itβs bad.
I agree. There are hundreds of examples of people feeling guilty because of what they were taught!
Example..
A JW accepts blood to save his life = big guilt trip
A Seventh-day Adventist plays on Saturday = going to hell
A Jew sneaks a piece of bacon at the Denny’s breakfast bar = Googleguilt
A Pentecostal lady cuts her hair = GUILT GUILT GUILT

ParticipantSD Holy Cow Man! That is why God gave me all boys. I would have been arrested for my actions. You are truly an example of wisdom and patience.

ParticipantBrian I have only finished the first section of the podcast and I love it! Wow, how informative! Its great being out of the box, being able to absorb it all without worying that it will damage my “Mormon” world view or “Testamony”. Can’t wait to listen to the rest! Thank you!

ParticipantβThe prophet is not limited by menβs reasoning. I used to believe this. However, the more I learn about the non white-washed church history, the more I would say that each and every latter-day prophet has demonstrated beyond any reasonable doubt that he
hasbeen limited to “mens reasoning” in fact, they have sounded less “silly” when they have used mens reasoning rather than just using their own (blank)reasoning. IMO f4h1

Participantbehappy If you have a few friends with daughters and/or sons plan a campout with them. I would invite as many as I could and make it the best Hover damn campout ever! Let the narrow minded zelots stay home with their boys. I have 4 boys and would love have you come to our father son campout with your whole family!

ParticipantBrian Johnston wrote:I voted for two:
1. The Church is true. Period. (But I would prefer to just say it’s true and leave it at that)
2. The Church is completely a construct of man.
So there you go. I believe the Church is completely man made, and it is true, even if it is wrong sometimes. Have fun with that.
(I am being serious for once)
Nice Brian, I wondered who was the one who voted for, “the church is true period” lite the fuse and run like hell!!!
π P.S. me to, I know with every fiber of my being that this church is true!

Sounds like you handled it very well Cwald. Is it time for a coffee maker at home?
I still have to hide the instant in an unmarked container way up on the top shelf. The wife is okay with it, but the kids are still coming along as I slowly talk them through the LDS white-washing.
Last week at the childrens hospital I was thinking of how you can’t smoke a cigarette anywhere on the campus, yet there is a coffee machine in every break room and a Starbucks on the first floor go figure!
I agree Tom, too much of a good or otherwise harmless thing can be bad. Remember the water drinking contest in Calf. a wile back? It was stopped when someone died of water intoxication. Back to old faithful–
Moderation in all things— except you neighbors wife that is. JS must have been texting Michael when that revelation arrived! π f4h1

I didn’t like the bishopric experience very well either.
MtnMan I say do whatβs best for you! I often send text messages throughout SM, skip SS and head to Starbucks, and return to help plan scouting activities with the Deacons. Works for me! And as far as tithing, I pay my share of the upkeep, nothing close to 10% of my income. I also look for the “One” who is suffering in silence like I did for years thinking that I was alone.
