ughh! I am just jealous that you have two more years of not having to worry about it. My TR expires in a couple months. I don’t know what I am going to do, but I cannot even begin to express the problems that will arise among my family and in-laws if I don’t have one. I have a sister who I talk to on a daily basis who wouldn’t talk to me last year for about a four month period because I raised a question about the church in a conversation with her. She is being sealed to an adopted baby next week, and I am glad I can attend. My in-laws who are concerned about me gave me a speech a couple months ago about how church comes before marriage, and it is vital their son has a wife that can follow him to the CK!!!

I need a TR to keep my family relations in tact. About the only question I think I could answer honestly would be the last question… Do you feel worthy to attend the Temple. Strange that I feel more worthy now than I ever did before. I wish that were the only question that mattered.

Very sweet photo! I also loved the paper airplane in her hand. My kids are always folding the sacrament programs into airplanes each week. Sad to see such darling little ones losing their mother. Thank you for sharing.

Gulp, Welcome! I appreciated you intro… very heartfelt.

And just like many other faithful members, read myself right into a faith crisis. I only read church published material. Thats what killed me. I had no excuse for it to be “wrong”. It wasn’t anti-LDS. It was from the church.

I can relate. I was surprised to discover how much crap all the apologetic were trying to explain away. Stuff I wouldn’t have even believed happened if it were not for them. I love to read. I love to research. I love to question things. I have been on this path since I was 5 years old. I come from a long line of faithful TBM’s. Even though I feel like I must be a big disappointment, I am also proud of myself in a way. I feel like this was my destiny.

This is a good place to be and I am glad you have found us!

I don’t usually discuss my views of the afterlife, they greatly differ than what I have been taught. But so much of what I was taught, never felt right or fair to me, so I instead formed beliefs of what feels right to me. (again, these are my own personal beliefs which I usually keep to myself.. they wouldn’t go over too well among my TBM family and friends, especially my ideas of multiple lives!)

    -God is love.

-God is neither male or female, but both.

    -God does not judge us.

    -There is no hell.

    -There is no caste system.

-Heaven is having a closeness to God, knowing ourselves, and discovering the god within us.

-Life is not a test. (and if life were a test, it would be unfair if one life were all we got, considering the horrible circumstances some are born into.)

-We are here for an experience. (It is through experience we come to know ourselves)

-We may choose to be reborn and even choose the life we are born into. (Because we are here to “experience”, it make sense that we would want to experience all human conditions. How else could we ever truly know ourselves? This could never be done in one life. Therefore we may choose to come back and experience more. Maleness, femaleness, love, wealth, power, success, poverty, discrimination, suffering, abuse, etc… This helps me to understand suffering, and view it as an incredible experience. I still however, have a strong desire to ease suffering… perhaps because I have experienced extreme suffering in a past life)

-Those that we love and bond with in life, will remain connected in spirit forever. (our relationships can be eternal, but only if we have cultivated the necessary amount of love.)

The first time I had ever read anything about the destruction of the Expositor through William Law’s perspective was several years ago when I came across the website wivesofjosephsmith.org

I had no idea before this that so much of the supposed mob violence was mostly to do with people disgusted with polygamy. William Law had been an avid supporter of JS in the beginning who publicly defended his character. Learning that JS was indeed practicing polygamy seemed to be more than Law could accept, as his actions would later show. I don’t condone Law’s agenda, but I certainly don’t view him as the bad guy anymore. I really feel for him.

Our ward has many social function a year. The cool thing is they have never been considered ward parties, but neighborhood events. Everyone… members and non-members alike are always invited, and the non-member turnout has always been good. This is one of the most impressive thing about our ward and I would hate to see it end.

Nice Brian… I am realizing that there are many who are just waiting for someone like you to speak up first, so they can then then join in. I use to be one of those people waiting for someone else to speak up first, but it rarely happened. Now I am learning to be more like you!

Wow Brian, what a great kid… I like him too!

This reminds me of a Mother’s Day talk that I will never forget. I typically hate SM on mother’s day. A bunch of speakers getting up and sharing how perfect and wonderful their moms are. It usually left me feeling like a bad mom and somewhat depressed by the time the meeting is over. On this particular Sunday (about 8 years ago) Pres. Faust was visiting our ward. His daughter is my neighbor, and he was attending his grandson’s mission farewell that day. He wasn’t on the program, but had asked if he could speak at the conclusion.

He stood and said that he had a message for all of us mothers out there. He basically said… “You are all doing far better than you give yourselves credit for. You may never receive the recognition you deserve from your family, but know this… our Father in Heaven is aware of all your efforts and is eternally grateful.” He then reiterated the fact that we are all doing better than we think. This was so nice to here and exactly what I was needing that day. I have always remembered it.
