I will just give my opinion – this is not backed up by facts or statements at the moment, ok?

I believe the statement/ teaching that Jesus had to be half mortal and half divine to succeed in the Atonement. Thus, his parentage were from both Mary and Heavenly Father.

That said, I have no idea, absolutely none, how the whole Joseph/ Mary/ Heavenly Father/ Holy Ghost thing has worked out.

I tend to believe that the GA’s got it wrong and there is another explanation via the “power” of the Holy Ghost, but I am not too worried about it.

What this specific event brings up for me it the fact that I will need to be the one to ordain and confirm the priesthood on him very soon at a time when I am having difficulty with other things.

I understand that this is difficult. For me it is invaluable that my priesthood line of authority goes through my dad. I wish that it also included my G-pa but he was not a member. It does not matter that this priesthood may be just mental concepts. They are mental concepts that are imbued with empowerment and responsibility and are passed down from father to son and have meaning and importance all their own (independent for any “power of God” attribution).

Maybe this isn’t important to you but that doesn’t preclude it being important to your son (either now or in the future). I would not let this opportunity go by… you can always soul search about what this moment means to you later…but it only happens once.

    +1

I could not agree more. Whether worthy/ true or not – this only comes once. Do not pass it up. This might mean something to your son or other family members later on.

I can tell you that I still come here to see your comments.

I do not participate much (unfortunately) but I value your comments as I do those in NOM. I browse you guys all the time.

StayLDS sometimes helps me strike a balance when I need it. NOM I can vent in a negative way if I feel down – StayLDS I can see others who are partial believers like myself still to the doctrine and find that balance back. That brings me hope. Truly.

Cwald, I enjoy your posts, and have read your stuff online at both forums for literally years. Not many have walked in your shoes.

That said, I feel that there are not many who have stayed in the middle forever, whether that be here or at other forums.

John Dehlin did not – he finally just wanted a final resolution without staying in the middle and finding a balance.

Will we be all at that point in a few years? Its possible…. its possible… but here we can always enjoy calm waters so to speak, and I appreciate that.

StayLDS should not be used in any way in this struggle.

That is my opinion only, of course, but should the members of this board try to take an active stance, then I believe the Church Leadership will attempt to get our identities or shut down the board.

If a similar struggle ever lies on my horizon in the future, I will fight it on a bigger stage – but alone. I will not include any members of any board.

Heads up… according to this thread, it was part of your STAYLDS disclaimer that started some of this mess.

I feel you are on the radar…. be careful Cwald – you are a prominent member of this forum, in my opinion.

I believe he is real. I do not think of him as the boogie man, but I strongly believe that if God exists, then the opposite does too in some degree.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

If the prophet was working a miracle or dictating revelation (real revelation, not policy) then I can see this taking some effect, IF AND ONLY IF he is truly speaking for God.

    ALL ELSE….. fail.

I may be given a copy of the CHI in the near future, I think from what someone said to me.

I await it with bated breath…

Do you really want one that badly? It is only supposed to be for the stake pres and the bishop, but I find there is a power of the press/ transparency that keeps others honest.

I am not saying stake presidents are dishonest, nor bishops, but I see why you would want a copy. It is not that interesting overall, the PDF file is big though….
