ParticipantHere’s one thing to consider: forgiving does not equal right. So when we forgive, some tend to think that we also mean the actions were ok. Most often they were not. But we need to forgive none the less, for our self. joheri
ParticipantI once came across the JST version of Genesis 14:39. That opened a whole new perspective for me. Abram payed tithing on what was left after he had met the basic needs. At least that’s what I get out of it. Wherefore Abram paid unto him tithes of all that he had, of all the riches which he possessed, which God had given him more than that which he had need.” JST Genesis 14:39

ParticipantHere’s my take on it: The new name cannot be seen alone. What happens at the same time?
You receive your garments that may symbolize your physical body (which you are commanded to allways wear).
The new name is the new physical you. After you are born you receive another name, given by your parrents. This is also the chronology during the endowment session. Do you see the connection?

Same goes for tobacco and other drugs or addictive and harmful substances. Hence, it is a principle of solidarity.
Imo, of course…
