ParticipantHeber13: If this situation abates enough to somewhat resume normal life, I will try to find the Mormon Battalion marker. Despite circumstances, I still greatly admire Mormon Members, and Missionaries. Heavenly Father used them to save my life and I will never forget it. Sadly, I can not place myself in the position where the GA can further abuse me.
I’ve learned more about Navajo belief and that is more sensible to me. I don’t find it hostile to belief in God, or Jesus the Christ.
Much peace to you all.
Sadly, it seems that the entire Navajo Nation is harshly impacted by Covid 19 and I do not know what the outcome will be. The Yakama nation and the Nez Perce areas are the same

ParticipantMost of it is smoke and mirrors, oh and um gaslighting. IF/when I go to Sacrament service, I will do the Sacrament, and if they get too crazy or hurtful, I just leave. Their harping about worthiness and Temple Recommends is disingenuous.

ParticipantThank you so much. So, while the Church may not have been involved, some familiar people were. Khadijah
ParticipantI have no hard evidence that the Church was involved, though as I looked at the Producers and Production companies, a few things stood out as circumstantial ‘evidence’. I’ve been told that there is a “set” built for the purpose of making movies of the Biblical era out between Provo and St George, West of I-15. I’ve been unsuccessful at locating it using Google, however. The “Doctrine” of The Young Messiah seems untampered with. I’ve done years of research on belief systems and many I find the doctrine of many to be debatable. Some of the Catholic Doctrine is offensive to me. The Orthodox Doctrine often takes off in a direction that I have not investigated. I had thought that the Catholic and Orthodox theology would be close, but they do not seem to be.
On YouTube right now, there are just lots of Videos about Jesus and many of them are labelled as to having been produced by the Church. It just felt like the sets and some of the actors were the same as The Young Messiah. Just intuition on my part.
The site where the Sundance Festival is said to be held is supposedly at the foot of Mount Timpanogos, between SLC and Park City. It is apparently owned by Robert Redford.

ParticipantI have been exhaustively searching for more work by those who made this movie. It has Sean Bean and David Bradley in it, I I know that it was not done by amateurs. The rest of the players do a wonderful job but are not as well known. The Movie is apparently an adaptation of a Novel written by Anne Rice. Adam Greaves-Neal portrays the young Jesus. Sara Lazzaro plays his Mother Mary. Joseph is played by Vincent Walsh. As I was searching tonight, there seems to be some evidence that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was somehow involved? Golly, Does this mean I will feel obligated to be more respectful to leadership? Perhaps so.
For me, the movie is the best of the best.

ParticipantThere is a sweet, loving movie called “The Young Messiah”. I watched it on YouTube and it may have been free. It was about Jesus in his prepubescent years. Khadijah
ParticipantLooking at the great figures in the Bible, just lots of them had failings, some of them serious ones. So, JS defying God on Polygamy is no surprise. Jacob 2:24 is an example. Anyone here is more expert than I am on Mormon works. For me, God stated clearly that one wife was enough. Then Brigham Young did the same thing. As to the things in his youth that he spoke of, I am not surprised.
I find it remarkable that despite these fools, so many of the local membership have been so sweet and loving. That is the real miracle of the church.

ParticipantBecause of the contagion, I was hoping for something online, on video, SKYPE, or YouTube. God knows our concerns and will honor our efforts. Khadijah
ParticipantMy original post about covers what I know. I was a straight up Muslim for 9 years. Wearing my Hijab helped me to feel much more safe and secure. It is not obvious that many sects of Judaism wear wigs or snoods to meet that requirement. Even when with the Mormons, I wore the Hijab until 2017. I’m ashamed to admit that I stopped out of my fear of what Trump and his followers might do.
I’d have to do a lot of digging but there are places in the OT where it seems assumed that women are wearing head covering because it states that the woman being talked about removed her covering for a certain reason. I’m assuming that she put it back on later.
In my opinion, in antiquity, both men and women in desert regions wore a covering to keep the sand out of their hair.
I believe that today women should cover.
As to the Temple, my only experience there is doing Baptisms for the dead. The GA forbid even that after. My opinion of them is quite low.

ParticipantI feel that the stopping of the Sacrament in ‘some’ form is faithless. We can not get together but perhaps we could be doing a sort of virtual Sacrament? Khadijah
ParticipantAs for the Missionaries perhaps it is impossible to get them all home? A Quick check revealed that the Church has 70,000 of them. I don’t know what will happen? I think the course of the disease is less than one week? What then? It is surprising that there are no online services.

ParticipantSigh. Now you are going to make me work. I remember reading in the Tanakh that God ordered that the widows and women with children be taken care of. I should know it well, but in my dotage, even after a long time of study, I forget things. Khadijah
ParticipantI do not argue with that. Perhaps it got started in antiquity as a way to see that widows were supported?

Participant3 or 4 wives is acceptable. 20 or 30 or more is offensive, evil and driven by satan and testosterone and big, narcissistic egos.

ParticipantI ordered groceries online yesterday. I will get them Sunday at 1:pm -
