ParticipantThank you for so beautifully relating such an important principle. professionalmom
ParticipantI enjoyed this post and think (maybe naively so) that if you are true to yourself and like you said, practice what you preach, you will find a bride who will also want to be inclusive and will understand your feelings surrounding this issue. Best wishes! professionalmom
ParticipantThanks for the comments. You are right Tom….I think expecting perfection from myself, from others, or from an organization is just not realistic. The most important thing I can do is focus on living true to myself while developing a close relationship with my Savior, loving others as the Savior would, and letting go of what doesn’t really matter. professionalmom
ParticipantThanks, Ray. Your first statement actually captures exactly what I am parsing through…what part of my beliefs are my beliefs and what part are cultural nonsense. What I value the most is a deep, loving relationship with myself, with my Savior, and with all those around me. It is my hope that through this process I will be better able to know who I am, be stronger in standing on my own two feet, and be more capable of accepting and loving others. I will definitely check out Elder Wirthlin’s talks…I just loved him! -
