Participant******* UPdate , My wife really surprised me after we attended sacrament. I told her the only way I would return to church is for her only !! She told me if that was my only reason to not come back to full membership. So for now I attend church with her we live the standards of the church in our home and still pray together which is what I always wanted until I figure all this out for myself. I am enjoying being a non member but have noticed some shunning at ⛪ Thoughts ?Rebel
ParticipantLove the quote , I stay because it makes my wife happy and I love following Jesus ,not because the church is true but because I believe what I believe and no one can take that away. Rebel
ParticipantYes I still support her by attending with her, she however wants it all I.e. going to the temple with me by having my full membership back etc etc etc. The way I see it you can’t have everything you want ! Rebel
ParticipantI say its possible but not probable. I also have enjoyed reading all the different takes on this . More probable that Jesus existed lived a great life that can be used as an example for us and in the bible he was embellished to be larger than life ! So I guess for me I believe until I find definitive proof otherwise !! Rebel
ParticipantI have always been a Misfit . I get along with others but am quiet and not challenging to others . I have always been different even in the military I never seem to fit in but I enjoy being part of this group on this nice island ! Rebel
ParticipantWell said Katzpur, I really feel the same way and depend on stay lds very much . This site seems to be a safe place to vent and receive encouragement !!! I appreciate all the members . Rebel
ParticipantThanks to all that replied so far from what I am reading is that you can have beliefs that are independent of the Lds church but still fit inside the frame so to speak . can anyone else help with this strategy ? Rebel. Rebel
ParticipantThis was a great talk !!!! Really enjoyed it , Patrick Mason is spot on with my views and I will be ordering the book planted today !!!! This is what I have been looking for . God Bless . Rebel
ParticipantThanks to those that replied . I believe after much consideration that come this summer I will again be an Active member of the church. I do believe just not all of it !!!! For example Joseph Smith is on my bad list ! I do however do not believe in the binary I.e. it either true or false that was promoted by Gordon b. Hinckley. The church has moved on from that judging from talks given from Dieter uchtdorf who has said “if all you can do and believe is have one foot in the corner we would rather have you do that “. So yes I will stick my foot in the corner because I still believe in Jesus Christ and the lds church is not a bad place to be. God Bless. Rebel. Rebel
ParticipantThanks f or the responses. I survive in the church just as Dark Jedi stated because I have my own beliefs in Jesus Christ and maybe for some of us with TBM spouses or relatives still deeply entrenched in the church this is the way to go. I have no problem keeping my own beliefs to myself but respectfully agreeing to disagree from time to time. Occasionally some issue will touch a nerve but for most of the time it is easy for me to shelve or dismiss another’s misguided point of view. I still very much like the approach used by the author of the web site churchistrue which is very similar . Even Joseph Smith in the early days had stated that the teachings of Christ were really all that mattered and so I have a copy of his quote in my personal bible. God Bless to all . ParticipantI must agree with Old-Timer and Dark Jedi. I have learned through my own fc and faith Reconstruction that for me My Way is the best way for me. I attend the Lds church but my beliefs are all my own. I only agree with about 40% of what is taught in the lds church and I keep it to myself with smug alertness. I also believe this is the future of the lds church , a Christian church with many believing what they will !! For me this is the only way to go .My wife is the only one who knows this but we fight about it so most of the time it is not discussed. You own your own thought and beliefs they are yours and only yours you are a unique child of God embrace it enjoy it and if you want be proud of it !!!! Life is much easier this way. God Bless Rebel
ParticipantThanks to you guys although I think I was a little misunderstood. I just want to be there for others much like this board is to be a sounding board. Very good advice mom3. Thanks once again always a friend to the board . Rebel. January 26, 2018 at 3:05 pm in reply to: Does God really expect us to pick the right church? #227322Rebel
Participant I for one do not worry about picking the right or “true church” no such thing I believe God speaks to his children in a way they will hear I.e. catholic, Baptist, Mormon. With some minor tweaks when we arrive in heaven so long as we live a good life try to follow Jesus , serve and be served we will have done our best !!! Just my take and its much easier to swallow for me.

ParticipantMine was mid 50s but I believe it is where you live also because someone who lives outside the mormon corridor seems to occur much later in life like myself because I did not join the church until I was 21. Rebel
ParticipantWelcome !! For the most part this site is non judgemental. As it should be . I struggle with coffee myself alcohol not an issue church history very much an issue. I have TBM spouse so my life is difficult to say the least . This is a good place to relax and discuss sensitive topics without fear. Once again welcome !! -
