Hey Roy thanks , I had thought about the idea of visiting the Catholic church because I really like the current pope. I dismissed the idea as a little to crazy but maybe it does make sense at least to me. I could attend Wed. Night mass and my LDS branch on sun. It can only help I think.

Welcome: I will send some things your way that have worked for me since my FC. Dont have a binary view of the church this very important to me . Take what works for you !!!! I dont wear a suit to church anymore and I am not a good public speaker so I dont do it. I believe God is a spirit but that is just my own personal view. I find things in common to others at church to discuss instead of some views that I hold that may seem inflammatory to others. If priesthood is toooo much on a particular sunday I leave. I have developed my own views on most issues such as I cant stand people saying this is the only true church , so I say their are other churches because God speaks to all his children in a way they will accept and understand !! I am however firm in my stand on basic christianity that I will not move from . But as for the details ahhh people are to caught up in that. The LDS church still has value, purpose and meaning for me but it has not come easy. It has been very very difficult at times. Hang in there. One last thing I would like to recommend the book “planted” by Patrick Mason it is excellent. God Bless.

Very well put, I like it. Only if we can change the current culture to treat people who question or have different perspectives like adults not shunning them as is so pervasive these days. We need to develop a culture that is welcoming and loving instead of this is the only true church on the face of the earth so if you dont believe like everyone else leave !!! That current attitude sucks.

As always, thanks Roy !!!!!!! I am staying in the church no worries there just trying to reconcile a few things for myself. I used to believe in a binary way and that is some of what drove me out of the church. I am finding a nuanced way to believe, unorthodox if you will. God Bless.

In my search for truth in mainstream christianity I have noticed that Real Christian’s Use of that term is loose always tell you to leave mormonism . Is it possible another words is the mormon umbrella large enough to accommodate someone with basic Christian beliefs such as mainstream christianity in mormonism ? Such as Roy may have elluded too ? Or am I just wacky crazy or whatever ? I also noticed that Coc just let’s you believe whatever you want.

Hey Curt: I can relate , l have had Sunday meetings like that . Keep in mind that eventually the church will be changing , it must to survive !!! They will not be able to keep preaching the whitewashed version of has too change and will but in our favor we must just hang onto what we know is right until the church catches up. God Bless.

I have managed I think to make peace (finally) with most if not all of my issues with the church. As you know from my previous posts I believe more in mainstream christianity than Mormonism. I would like to say though that I also believe the church is filled with many good and well meaning people. I am still grateful for many tenets of Mormonism i.e. most of the wow , family time , emphasis on church attendance etc etc . I believe the BOM to be fiction but a divinely inspired book to bring people unto Christ. I have a small pocket cross I will not part with. I can truthfully answer all the Temple recommend questions even if my definitions are a little unorthodox. I have discovered all churches have ” issues ” The LDS church is still a good place to be !!!!! I guess my religious views are a hybrid so to speak. I dont think President Nelson is a prophet in the biblical sense but he is the leader of the lds church so yes he can be called a prophet. ALL IN all my faith crisis seems to be fading away and I thank God for that. It has truly been a nightmare in every sense of the word !!! I highly recommend to all that are having a faith crisis to read Planted by Patrick Mason it helped me a lot. I write about my own faith crisis to try and help others I plan hanging around on this site in the future just wish it were a little more active than it has been this past year as I feel their is a need to help struggling members. God bless all.

I am going to remain quiet on doctrine we do not agree on as Roy suggested and highlight the things we do agree on .
