Elder Anderson told the youth in the last conference to “Consider recording the testimony of Joseph Smith in your own voice, listening to it regularly, and sharing it with friends. Listening to the Prophet’s testimony in your own voice will help bring the witness you seek.”

That sounds a lot like something I have a vague impression of. Was there some psychology experiments that showed the personal beliefs of students were affected by public declarations that those students were asked to make? The idea is you come to believe what you hear yourself say, especially when spoken in a public setting.

That is very frightening. When I heard I couldn’t believe it and when I read the talk I still had a hard time with it. I told my therapist about and she was astounded. When I just now read it my gut tightened up.

According to what I’ve been reading about John Dehlin I am an apostate. I support same sex marriage.

If the Church has a “position” on youth dating it would most likely be in For the Strength of Youth.

My thoughts are kids are different and making a policy and trying to make it work for all isn’t going to work. Trust yourself and trust that you raised your kids well. Trust your kids to do the right thing.

I’m 60 years old right now. Joined the LDS Church when I was 24 but I can’t say I really fully believed. The real shelf collapse started when I was about 50. It’s been downhill ever since.

    So-called

    “Feminists”

    Presume

Those words put me on the defense.

How do we know when the leaders are speaking on behalf of The Lord?

How do we know that the leaders have enquired of The Lord.

Should we just follow in blind obedience?

I read the article twice and still might be missing something but I don’t think she is a military chaplain.

I really don’t want to get into bashing the Church so I’ll stick with echoing SD’s comment about I have changed. Except I haven’t changed that much really, I’ve stopped constraining the inner me.
