ParticipantNow that was a great story! I loved it. The lenghts we go to not to hurt or at least think we are hurting are loved ones is very interesting and complex. Glad it fell on understanding ears.

ParticipantI had to read it over a few times for it to sink in, but I finally think I got it and it’s very true. Beautiful!

ParticipantI live in a secret world too. 😮 Mine is different, however. I hide the fact that I attend a Mormon church from my family. My husband and child are aware and don’t mind, but my mother and siblings and extended family have no idea. I keep it that way for fear of heart attacks and strokes. I would blame myself eternally if that were to happen, especially when they find out I’m actually joining “that church.” I don’t like having to keep so secretive. At my age it seems sort of silly, especially since I don’t participate in weird satanic rituals, hang a witches broom in my doorway and wear a black cape and walk a black cat with me every where I go. Although I do have to admit I love jello in all sorts of flavors and in a variety of ways.

ParticipantWell, I love Relief Society. It has some of the nicest women in our community who attend and they always have a warm smile and friendly outlook. I adore all the babies crawling around too. It’s a safe place for me and I alway s learn something. I enjoy SS too. I would say the only thing that makes me uncomfortable is when I hear a lessons that give me the message that we should always be YES people, and never NO people. You can’t always say yes. That can lead to getting burned out, frustration, anger and resentment. Then you get fed up and leave. Those kinds of lessons are when I shift over to a fun little day dream. Getting a facial at the Aveeda Salon and smelling a rain forest candle burning with some nature sound music in the back ground. Ahhhh, relaxation!

ParticipantYes, it is indeed different joining the church with some NOMish ideas and also as an adult who has experienced many things in life. The church serves me well, and I hope I can do the same for it. It would be cool to have Valoel for a teacher! And Prairie Chuck too!

Thanks for the welcome.

ParticipantWelcome Katie! You sound like a dear kindred spirit, and I think it’s perfectly alright to have the feeling you do. We all do. I do at least.
I love this dialogue also (someone else mentioned it regarding this post). It’s good to fluff the dust and get questioning beliefs out in the open. I love hearing them and all the great insights from the members! It’s a good place.
