ParticipantI love the gospel library app, I have 8-10 open references running within the app, stuff for my calling, stuff for home study, hymns, a few others. I think it is great to have so much in that one app. LDS tools is another great tool. On the issue of restricting these or being distracted falls under I am at church to help me and my family, why bother what others think… I know not very Christlike, however I will apply the gospel to my life the best I can, cafeteria style ofcourse

ParticipantKissproof, Welcome, I love your perspective! Finding positive attributes when it seems buried in a quagmire of difficulties. Thanks for introducing yourself! Yonni
ParticipantThanks for sharing, thanks for continuing to be positive when it is so easy to be negative (or perceived negative)!!!! Yonni

A public recognition of this type of condition could be the first step toward establishing an emeritus status. I won’t demand or expect that, but I would love to see it happen.
As a Nurse this strikes a cord, I would love to see emeritus status, it’s the merciful thing to do.As a missionary I was able to attend 2 of the first sessions of GC in the conference center, Elder Scott came to talk to the audience after the second session, shake hands, meet people, he was very polite and didn’t have the “air” of authority, much respect was gained that day. (Yup I served in the Utah SLC mission)

This has been my line of thinking lately and it had brought so much peace into my life, this too would devastate me if for whatever reason I learned that God is unmerciful. There is just too much evidence in my life that he is more merciful than I can comprehend!Yonni

lowered quality of missionaries. I haven’t spoken with a missionary who has a modestly nuanced view of doctrine in a long time. It will be interesting to see if level of education goes down for either YM or YW. I could see the % of youth finishing college after missions potentially decreasing for not only YW but also for YM. Although it could go up if missionaries see firsthand how important a college education is.
As a WML I know this is very true, maybe it’s the set we have, however, it is making my calling very difficult.I am curious how this will result in the long run, wondering how the unintended consequences will play out.

ParticipantMy thoughts when reading these posts reminds me how I wish the Brethren would be more proactive in compassion, in teaching, in clarifying history (maybe even apologize). I am tired of defending my religion, I am tired of my religion constantly defending itself, I wish there was more of an effort to be more proactive in dealing with change. Be more proactive with fixing culture and tradition that is hurtful and damages many relationships with others of different faith or those who criticize the leaders. Yonni
ParticipantThanks for the welcome! Lookinghard your post reminds me how at times we stumble on the minutia that is almost Pharisaical when it comes to doctrine and rule keeping and Christ becomes forgotten. I have been learning that Christ is much more sympathetic and loving than our perception of his love. Yes he cleansed the temple, however the rest of his ministry was an approach of love, even to those who was thought upon to not be loved due to sin.

All too often apologies are being demanded for whatever the cause. Just as forgiveness, apologies should not be to the expectation of the offended and will come in due time. I think too many expect an apology and when one is not received, the error is then placed on the one who has the expectation. An interesting topic indeed!March 21, 2015 at 7:11 pm in reply to: SLTrib: Mormons free to back gay marriage on social media #197819Yonni

I have yet to introduce myself, I promise I will soon. This sentence I just had to comment on, and brought sudden profound meaning to me, and reminds me love has the power to conquer all, thanks!
